Machining is a precision art. In the world of industry, engineers create and build machinery that in turn produces products we use in everyday living. Eventually parts break, or wear out, and need to be replaced or repaired. Using a lathe, milling machine, radial arm drill and hand tools such as taps, dyes and reamers, the West Kootenay Machine Shop produces replacement metal parts to within one thousandth of an inch accuracy. Machinery and parts can be complex, like an automobile part, or simple like a gate hinge.
Starting with semi-finished metal stock, machining removes excess metal until the basic size and shape of the desired part is achieved. Holes can be drilled and tapped to accept updated parts. Bores can be machined out, a bushing installed, and remachined.
The West Kootenay Machine Shop is the place where ideas become reality, old workhorses come back to life and change is no problem! Dave loves to solve problems, take on challenges and produce results.
