Community Futures’ workshops cover the gamut of business skills on the following topics:

• Business plan development
• Marketing
• Bookkeeping and other financial skills
• Basic print and web design
• Computer skills
• Personal development
• Open labs to assist you with something you’re working on

Registration:

• Registration is required a minimum of three days prior to the course
• All workshops are filled on a first-come first-served basis
• Register early as workshops will be cancelled if the minimum attendance
  is not met

Tuition:

Most workshops are one day. Others run from half a day to three days.
General Public tuition is:

• $75 per day
• $40 for half day or evening courses
• Open labs are $40 for a full day and $20 for half day or evening
• Loans clients may attend at a 50% discount
• Self-Employment Program clients' tuition is included in the program

Trainers and Classes:

Community Futures' instructors are chosen for their approachability as well as their skills. All have excellent qualifications and wealth of experience in their field. Their understanding of entrepreneurial needs creates a warm, supportive atmosphere in the classroom.

Classes are also an excellent opportunity to network with other business owners and perhaps even exchange skills!

Your classroom time will be an informative learning experience in a relaxed, hands-on and engaging atmosphere.

Location:

The majority of our workshops are held in our Training Centre at:

201-514 Vernon Street at Ward, in Nelson – right-hand door above the Post Office

Remember, for your comfort, dress in layers so you can adjust to your comfort zone.

Parking:

Parking is available at the Nelson Parkade on Vernon Street for $3.50/day or $1.50 on Saturdays. Unless stated otherwise, (in the workshop schedule) all workshops will start at 9 a.m. and finish by 4 p.m.

Business Plan Workshop:

The two-day Business Plan Workshop teaches individuals how to write a business plan. The workshop is available to anyone. It is also a pre-requisite for individuals interested in applying for the Self-Employment Program.

The fee for the two-day Business Plan workshop is:

• $120
• free to any individual who:
  
  • is currently eligible for Employment Insurance (EI) or
  • is currently receiving EI benefits or
  • has had an EI claim in the past 3 years or
  • has had a Parental claim in the past 5 years
